Our
Commitment to Protect Your Personal Information
We (Wood Buffalo Labour Market Information, managed by Applications
Management Consulting Ltd.) are committed to protecting your
privacy and the confidentiality of your personal information.
We are contracted to Alberta Employment and Immigration (AEI)
for labour market information services.
Our information protection responsibilities are described in
the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP
Act).
We want you to know:
- Why we collect personal information
- How we use and disclose personal information
- How we protect the privacy of visitors to our website
What is personal information
Personal information is any information that identifies you as
an individual. It includes information that you provide to us.
Personal information may include, but is not limited to: your
name, contact information (phone or email), age, gender, type
of work you are looking for, or employment records.
Why we collect personal information
We usually first collect your personal information when you contact
us for information relative to employment in the Regional Municipality
of Wood Buffalo. Personal information also may be collected directly
from you, for example, so that we may better answer you labour
market information questions.
The onus is on Applications Management Consulting Ltd. to collect
only the personal information that is directly related to, and
necessary for responding to your calls and emails and area labour
market information collection. We do not collect information "just
in case we might eventually need it".
Each office (Alberta Employment and Immigration or contracted
service provider) that delivers AEI programs and services
should identify an employee, either on site or readily available,
who can provide guidance to other staff, and can answer questions
from you regarding the collection, use, disclosure, and handling
of your personal information. For example:
- reason(s) your personal information is needed
- how your personal information will be used
- your options for providing your personal information, and consequences
of not providing it including any limitations on services that
may result.
Sometimes, individuals may provide more information than is required.
Information that is not required for the programs and services
being provided may be returned to the individual, or destroyed
according to program practices.
How we use and disclose your personal information
The FOIP Act provides authority for us to use an individual's
personal information:
- for the purpose(s) for which it was collected or compiled,
or
- for a use consistent with that purpose, or
- if the individual the information is about has consented to
the use.
In the course of providing a service, non-identifiable personal
information may be used for internal management purposes, including
planning, resource allocation, quality improvement, monitoring,
audit, evaluation and reporting.
We will ensure you are aware of the purposes for which we collect
your personal information and with whom we may disclose the personal
information when you contact us for labour market information.
Self-evident purposes should be clear. However, if you have any
questions, please ask us.

to help us get you the information you have requested. We collect
personal information in order to respond to you. We only share
the information you give us with another government department
if your inquiry relates to that department. We do not create
individual profiles with the information you provide or give
it to any private organization.
